PROCESS

Process
1. Send me your document
The first step is to send me the text, specifying all of the information that you believe to be useful for the translation (Who is the translation intended for? Is it a for-information or a for-publication translation? Is there in-house terminology to respect?) Inform me of  the time limit you wish me to abide by, but also consider that a good translation takes time. My translations are not a literal transposition of every word as a machine would do. The objective is to produce a new text, flowing, in good French and with the appropriate terminology. As a translator, I take time to research the appropriate information and to re-construct phrases into correct French. I ensure all translations are of the highest order by revising all of my work thoroughly as to detect the smallest misprint.

2. I send you a quote
I will send you a quote as soon as possible, with a proposal of price and a delivery date for the translated document.
3. You agree to the quote and I begin the procedure
With your consent, I begin the translation process. First, I read the document and select the terminology, phraseology and, if necessary, the passages that could pose problems for the translation. Then, I study the issue to ensure that I use the correct terms and the most relevant turn of phrases and to clarify some unfamiliar notions. Don’t be surprised if I ask you some questions about the document. As I examine the original document in detail to ensure that the translation will be to the highest standard possible, occasionally I find incoherences. The next step is the translation itself. I often feel obliged to completely change some sentences, to split them, add some words, suppress others, etc. Your text might look a bit different after the translation, but you can be sure that the meaning and the impact on the French-speaking reader will be the same as that of the original document.
4. I check the quality
The last step is the revision. I always reread my work, again and again, to verify the style, the syntax, the grammar and the spelling and to be sure there’s no typing error left.
5. I send you the translated document
As soon as the translation and the revision are finished, I will send you the translated document along with an invoice specifying all of the terms of payment. Do not hesitate to pass comment or to ask questions about the translations. Communication is the only way to build a long lasting professional relationship.

WHY ME?

Choosing a service provider is not always easy. In terms of translation, you have to consider a few key elements: the translator's experience and, of course, his/her working languages, but also the regional linguistic varieties he/she masters and his/her professional ethics. In terms of translation, you have to consider a few key elements: the translator's experience and, of course, his/her working languages, but also the regional linguistic varieties he/she masters and his/her professional ethics. Here are some guarantees of the quality of my work:

I graduated from the renowned translation school ESIT in Paris and I have now nearly 10 years of professional experience and long lasting collaborations with a number of satisfied clients.

I have translated urgent documents for the very same day as well as long-term projects over several months and I always meet my deadlines.

In accordance with the SFT's Code of Professional Conduct, I translate uniquely in my mother tongue and I only accept projetcs for which I feel competent, with deadlines I know I can comply.

I've lived in France, Quebec, England, United States, Spain, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and Argentina. All thoses experiences have given me a good knowledge of a number of linguistic varieties.

The testimonials of my clients speak for themselves.

TESTIMONIALS

I had the pleasure of collaborating with Lise for the last few years during which she has been providing regular freelance English/French translations and occasional French editing services to the UN Integrated Regional Information Networks (IRIN) of the Office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). Her work, among others, is published on IRIN's French website: http://www.irinnews.org/fr/.

From this perspective, I can attest to Lise top quality work. Her passion for what she does is highly commendable. She is a first grade translator and linguist with a highly penetrating attention to details and a strong adaptability of jargon and style. Year after year, Lise has developed a very good knowledge of IRIN and a comprehensive memory of its publications. During the translation process and as she goes through the English texts, she links them to previous IRIN and non-IRIN articles and ascertains consistency of content and style and even points out editorial typos or inconsistencies sometimes.

It is because of her tenacious attitude to her work, her accuracy, timeliness and punctuality that I don't hesitate to recommend Lise for any translation position. I am confident she would quickly end up being an asset to any team she supports.
